2009: Started all 20 games and has now started 37 in a row… Played primarily as a wide midfielder, but played as a fullback as well… Scored the Retrievers’ first goal of a memorable 2009 season in the 17th minute, sparking UMBC to a 3-1 win over Virginia Tech on Sept. 1… Added an assist in the 3-0 victory over Drexel on Sept. 19.


2008: One of five players that started in all 17 games… Played 1,424 minutes, the fifth-highest total for field players on the squad… Posted his lone point of the year, an assist, in an America East Conference contest at Albany. 



2007:?Developed into a valuable reserve for the Retrievers, competing in all 20 games during the season... Scored his first collegiate goal to cap a three-goal first half in the Retrievers’ 3-0 win over Maine... Notched the game-winner at Howard... Volleyed the ball out of the air and into the lower right corner of the net from 25 yards out in the eventual 4-0 win. 



BACKGROUND: Majoring in social work... Earned First-Team All-State and Second-Team All-Metro honors for the Friars… A four-year varsity starter who is the son of Dale Rothe, an All-American at the University of Baltimore and former teammate of Coach Caringi… Lists his greatest thrill in sports as winning the 2006 MIAA Championship and advancing to regional playoffs… Also lettered in track and field and medaled in the high jump in the MIAA Championships… Enjoys chicken alfredo and the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers… Has an older brother, Dale… Son of Rose and Dale Rothe… Sean Michael Rothe was born on March 30, 1989.
