Mezzadra, Gillis Earn All Conference Honors in Men's Soccer

UMBC senior forward Kevin Mezzadra (Fallston, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) was named to the America East Conference Men's Soccer First Team in voting conducted by the league's coaches. In addition, freshman forward Andrew Gillis (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) was named to the league's All-Rookie team.

The honor is Mezzadra's third by the conference in four years. He earned All-Rookie team status in 2003 and was named to the Second Team in 2005. Despite playing in the midfield and even in the back in several league games, Mezzadra is still second in the conference in scoring with nine goals and 20 points. He finished his UMBC career with 19 goals and 46 points.

Gillis tallied three goals, all in league play, in his initial season. He was named America East Rookie of the Week this past week after his two-goal effort in a 5-2 win over Hartford on Oct. 21.
