BOSTON – UMBC freshman attackman Ryan Frawley (Mountain Lakes, N.J) earned America East Conference co-Rookie of the Week honors in the league's final weekly awards' presentations announced on May 1.
Frawley earns the honor for the second time, having earned the award on March 13 after a four-goal effort at Marist. He shared the award on this occasion with Albany face-off specialist TD Ierlan.
The Retriever newcomer amassed a season-high five points and matched his season-best with a four-goal effort in the 10-7 win over Vermont on Saturday. After netting a goal in each of the first two quarters, he scored back-to-back goals late in the third to extend a 6-4 lead to 8-4 after 45 minutes.
Frawley is tied for second on the team in goals (17), just one behind Max Maxwell and leads the regulars in shooting percentage (41.5%) and shots on goal percentage (73.2).
With the victory over Vermont, the Retrievers improved to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in America East play and secured the No. 2 seed in the America East Conference Championships. UMBC will face third-seeded Binghamton (10-3, 4-2 AE) in the first semi-final contest (4:30 p.m.) on Thursday at Albany's Casey Stadium.
