2017: Came back for a fifth season, using a medical red-shirt year from 2013… Saw action on Senior Day, as UMBC closed its home campaign with a victory over Vermont… Appeared in 27 career contests, and started 25 from 2014-17.
2016: Started the first three games of the season and also got the nod versus Stony Brook… Stopped a dozen Spider shots in the opener in the Retrievers’ narrow 7-5 setback.
2015: Started the first six games of the campaign, posting a record of 2-4… Spurred UMBC’s early two-game winning streak with an eight-save performance at Monmouth and a season-best 13-stop effort the following Saturday at Richmond… Allowed just two goals versus the Hawks, the fewest goals allowed by the Retrievers since 1992… Permitted only five scores by the Spiders in a 9-5 victory… Saw action in reserve duty in the season finale at Albany… Finished the campaign with 56 saves and 56 goals allowed and a 9.73 goals against average.
2014: Started all 15 games during his red-shirt freshman campaign… Won a tough preseason battle for the starting position… Went on to collect the most saves (167) of any freshman in UMBC’s Division I lacrosse history, surpassing Bob Bailey’s 160 stops in 1989… His 167 stops are the most for a Retriever netminder since Tim Flanagan made 178 in 2003… His 11.13 saves per game ranked second in the America East Conference and 12th nationally… Stopped 15 Terrapin shots in 55 minutes in his collegiate debut… After posting back-to-back wins over Monmouth and Richmond, he saved a season-high 16 attempts versus Johns Hopkins, keeping UMBC close for 50 minutes…. Excelled in his conference debut, making 15 saves in an overtime victory over Stony Brook… His final stop was from point-blank range with his side down two men in the extra period, leading to the Retrievers’ game-winner in the 12-11 triumph… Made more saves than permitted goals in nine of his first 11 collegiate outings
Background: A 2010 Underclassman Under Armour All-American representing New England… One of 12 goalies invited to try out for the U.S. U-19 national team… Posted a 6.91 GAA and 71% save percentage as a senior for the Seawolves… The team captain and MVP during that senior season… Also earned letters in soccer and ice hockey and captained the Tabor skaters in 2011-12…Enjoys golf, country music and the Hunger Games trilogy… The youngest of four brothers… Son of Cynthia and Thomas Gordon.
