BOSTON – UMBC red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Connor Gordon (Bourne, Mass./Tabor Academy) was named America East Conference co-Player of the Week for games ending March 1, 2015. Gordon shared the award with Stony Brook midfielder Mike Rooney.
Gordon made seven saves in the first half and six in the second as UMBC held a Richmond squad, which was averaging 11.3 goals per game, to five scores in a 9-5 Retriever victory. The 13 saves was a season high for Gordon, an America East All-Rookie Team member last year. Gordon has an 8.18 goals-against average (ranked 18th nationally) and a 55.9 save percentage (21st nationally). He has started 19 consecutive games for the Retrievers.
The Retriever netminder was named AE Rookie of the Week last season on March 31, 2014.
UMBC (2-2) welcomes 15th-ranked Towson to UMBC Stadium in the team's home opener on Saturday, March 7.
