Nate Lewnes Named America East Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week

Boston, Mass. – UMBC junior attackman Nate Lewnes (Arnold, Md./St. Mary's) was named America East Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, for games ending Feb. 15.

Lewnes led all players with four goals in UMBC's narrow 10-8 setback at Penn in cold, snowy conditions at Franklin Field on Saturday.  He scored twice late in the first quarter to bring UMBC to within 4-3 and tallied twice in the fourth quarter as UMBC cut a 9-5 deficit to 10-8.

The former America East All-Rookie Team member leads UMBC with five goals in two games. He has just hit the 50-goal plateau in only 32 career games for the Retrievers.

Dating back to the 2014 season, Lewnes has scored 20 goals in his last six collegiate contests. 

UMBC travels to Monmouth for a Saturday, Feb. 21 contest with the Hawks.
