Men's Lacrosse Tabs 2014-15 Team Captains

BALTIMORE - UMBC Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Don Zimmerman has announced the squad'sMike Dahl selections for its 2014-15 team captains. The four team captains are seniors Mike Dahl (Joppatowne, Md./Mount St. Joseph), Conor Finch (Westminster, Md./Boys' Latin), Tim Lang (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and Kevin McDonough (Oakdale, N.Y./St. Anthony's).

 

Dahl (pictured, top right) started all 15 games last season at close defense and has seen action in 40 contests during his tenure at UMBC. The psychology major posted career highs in ground balls (17) and caused turnovers (7) in 2014. He was selected as the 2014 squad's Unsung Hero and earned a place on America East Conference's Winter-Spring Honor Roll. 

 

After three years of increased offensive production, Finch (pictured, left) was poised for impactful 2014campaign. But the midfielder suffered a leg injury as spring practice begin and did not compete. He will enter the 2015 campaign with 23 career points (11 goals, 12 assists) and 12 starts in 33 games played. Finch has met his requirements in media and communication studies and is pursuing other degrees in sociology and American studies. He is a two-time America East Conference Winter/Spring Honor Roll honoree.

Tim Lang The versatile Lang (pictured, right) has played at offensive and defensive midfielder units throughout his tenure with the Retrievers. The financial economics major competed in a career-high 13 games as a defensive middie in 2014 and has seen action in 28 contests in his three campaigns. 

 

Now a two-time team captain, McDonough (pictured, bottom left) will earn his third letter at UMBC, after competing for one season at Binghamton University (2012). He has seen action in all 30 spring contests in two seasons, competing as a short-stick defensive midfielder. The history major finished third on the 2014 squad with 37 ground balls.

"Being named a team captain is quite an honor," Coach Zimmerman said. "It is also a tremendous opportunity to serve others. Our staff is confident that Mike, Conor, Tim and Kevin will all do outstanding jobs serving in this vital role."
