Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC men's basketball will return to the UMBC Event Center on Saturday after a week-long road swing that saw the Retrievers drop to 4-3 on the year. Most recently the Black and Gold went 0-3 on a road trip that saw them play against national power LSU (L, 77-50) and Eastern Michigan (L, 62-45) and Nicholls State (L, 82-72) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Junior guard Darnell Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Indian Land (SC)/New Mexico JC) was named to the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, and 2.5 apg during the tournament.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-The Retrievers return home after a long road trip that saw UMBC go 0-3 against LSU (77-50), and Eastern Michigan (62-45) and Nicholls State (82-72) in Jamaica last week. UMBC is 4-3 on the year after those games and will look to remain perfect at home sitting at 3-0 on the year in Baltimore. Junior guard Darnell Rogers was named to the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 2.5 apg during the tournament.
-Rogers leads the team with 14.0 ppg shooting at 44.6 percent from the floor this year. He is pulling down 3.4 rpg and has dished out 30 assists. Senior K.J. Jackson (Missouri City, Texas) and junior Dimitrije Spasojevic (Vrsac, Serbia) are the only other Retrievers in double figures averaging 10.7 and 10.3 ppg respectively. Jackson saw his first action of the year last week and tied his career-high with nine assists against Nicholls. Spasojevic is also averaging 4.3 rpg.
Scouting the Dragons:
-Drexel comes to Charm City also at 4-3 riding a two-game win streak by taking down Bryant (86-74) and Rosemont (84-51) last week at home. The Dragons average 73.4 ppg while giving up 69.4 ppg to opponents.
-James Butler is the leader for the Dragons in both scoring and rebounding. He is scoring at a 15.6 ppg clip while grabbing 11.9 rpg in 34.0 minutes of action. Butler is shooting 62.5 percent from the floor with seven blocks and seven steals on the year. Zach Walton is also over double digits scoring at 12.9 ppg. Camren Wynter sets the table on offense with 44 assists (6.3 apg).
-This will be the ninth meeting all-time between the two schools with the Dragons holding a 5-3 lead in the series. The two teams met for the first time since the 1999-00 season last year with UMBC using a huge second half to take a 91-76 win in Philly.
-Senior K.J. Jackson set a career-high with 31 points in the contest, scoring 27 points in the second half as UMBC put up 56 as a team and shot 60 percent from the floor in the win.
-The Retrievers will make the short trek down to D.C. to take on American on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Tip-off with the Eagles is set for 7 p.m. from Bender Arena on the Patriot League Network.
