Basketball's Cody Joyce Granted NCAA Waiver; Will Compete in 2014-15

BALTIMORE – UMBC men's basketball junior post Cody Joyce (Churchton, Md./Southern/Houston Baptist) was granted a legislative relief waiver from the NCAA on Wednesday, Nov. 12 and may compete immediately for the squad this season. He will have two years of eligibility at UMBC.

Joyce competed for two seasons for Houston Baptist University and averaged 7.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 60 appearances. The 6'8", 225-lb. low post player, who started 37 games for the Huskies, finished second on the squad in scoring (9.9 ppg) and in field goal percentage (52.1%) in the 2013-14 campaign.

Joyce earned Dean's List honors and was selected to Southland Conference honor roll after 2014 spring semester.

UMBC opens its season at Akron University on Friday, Nov. 14 (8:00 p.m.)
