Men's Basketball Opens Road Swing at Duquesne On Wednesday Evening
RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC snapped a three-game slide with a 64-59 victory over UMES on Monday at the RAC Arena. Four Retrievers scored in double figures and the squad hit 16-of-23 shots from the floor in the second half to rally from a four-point halftime deficit. All three of UMBC's wins have occured when the team trailed at intermission. Freshman post David Kadiri led UMBC witih 21 points in just 24 minutes vs. the Hawks. Classmate Rodney Elliott, a combo-guard, added 10 and leads the Retrievers at 13.0 points per game.
DUKE UPDATE: The Dukes come into the game with a 2-3 overall record, and a 2-1 record at home. They also have a 1-1 record against America East opponents,with a setbck versus UNH (84-81) and a victory over Albany (70-59). Senior forward Ovie Soko leads the Dukes in points per game with 18.0 and rebounds per game with 10.2 on the season. Soko contributed 23 points and 13 rebounds in the win versusAlbany. Junior guard Tra'Vaughn White comes into the game averaging 14.4 points per game. Sophomore guard Derrick Colter comes in leading the Dukes in assists with 14 and 3-point field goals made with 10. He contributed 23 points in the team's opener against Abilene Christian.
