    The UMBC men’s basketball program will hold their second week of day camp, beginning Monday, July 28, and running through Friday, August 1. Campers are welcome to walk up and register on Monday morning prior to the start of camp at 9 a.m.

    BOSTON, MA – UMBC guard Rodney Elliott has been named a finalist for the 2014 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year award, as announced by CollegeInsider.com on March 31. The Kyle Macy award is presented annually to the top freshman in Division I college basketball.

    Albany, N.Y.- The UMBC guard tandem of senior Quentin Jones (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) and freshman Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) each scored 18 points, but the Retrievers fell to a hot-shooting Albany squad, 86-56, in the America East quarterfinals at UA’s SEFCU Arena.

    Albany, N.Y.- UMBC freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) was named America East Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie-of-the-Year, in a unanimous vote by the league’s head coaches. Elliott, UMBC’s first men’s basketball player to earn Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 11 league seasons, was also selected to the America East Third Team and to the All-Rookie squad.
  • Men's Basketball Starts America East Tourney on Saturday vs. Host Albany

    The fifth-seeded UMBC men’s basketball team opens competition in its 11th America East Men’s Basketball Championship when the Retrievers face No. 4 seed and host Albany on Saturday, March 8 at UA’s SEFCU Arena. The contest is the second quarterfinal game of four on the day, as top-seeded Vermont kicks off the afternoon by taking on No. 8 New Hampshire at noon. The No. 5 seed is UMBC’s highest since the 2007-08 team earned the No. 1 seed and went on to take the title. The two squads split a pair of thrilling contests this season, with Albany winning, 73-72, in double overtime at SEFCU on Jan. 8 and the Retrievers getting a last-second tip-in from Quentin Jones and triumphing, 71-69 at the RAC Arena on Feb. 12.   • Men's Basketball Falls at Hartford, But Will Be No. 5 Seed in America East Tourney

    West Hartford, Conn. – UMBC rallied late from a 24-point deficit, but the host Hartford Hawks defeated the Retrievers, 67-56, in the regular season finale at Chase Family Arena. UMBC (9-20, 5-11 America East) will be the No. 5 seed for next weekend’s America East Conference Tournament and face No. 4 Albany (15-14, 9-7) at 2:30 p.m. on Sat., March 8 at Albany’s SEFCU Arena.
  • Men's Basketball Concludes Regular Season at Hartford on Sunday

    UMBC (9-19, 5-10 America East) plays its final game of the 2013-14 regular season when the Retrievers travel to West Hartford, Conn. to take on Hartford (15-15, 9-6) at the Chase Family Arena on Sunday, March 2. A win would guarantee the Retrievers the fifth seed in next weekend’s America East Tournament, its highest seed since the championship season of 2007-08.     UMBC (9-18, 5-9 America East) plays its final home game of the 2013-14 season when the Retrievers host Binghamton (6-20, 3-10) at the RAC Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22. UMBC will honor its three seniors (Quentin Jones, Chase Plummer, Brett Roseboro) playing their final home games and another (Jamar Wertz), who was unable to compete this year due to injury.     Stony Brook, N.Y.- UMBC senior post Brett Roseboro (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) scored a career-high 20 points, but host Stony Brook outshot the Retrievers, 72-53, at Pritchard Gym. Roseboro hit 8-of-15 shots from the floor, added a team-best nine rebounds and recorded UMBC’s lone two rejections of the game.

    BALTIMORE – UMBC senior guard Quentin Jones’ (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) improbable tip-in with 2.4 seconds remaining broke a 69-all tie and gave the host Retrievers a 71-69 victory over defending league champion Albany in an America East contest at the RAC Arena. Jones and freshman guard Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) shared scoring honors with 16 points each.

Elliott nearly posted a triple-double, scoring 14 points, and garnering season bests in rebounds (11) and assists (8). Roseboro scored 14 points and garnered a season-best 12 caroms to post his fifth career double-double.
