Men's Basketball Opens Week of Action at Boston U. on Tuesday Evening

UMBC faces two teams this week that they defeated in a four-day span nearly a month ago--Boston U. and Hartford. First up is the Boston University Terriers, a squad which has won four straight games. Fans can catch all the action on Fox 1370 Sports Radio ( with Paul Mittermeier on the call, beginning with the pregame show at 7:25 p.m.


RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC had a rough week at home, dropping RAC Arena decisions to Vermont and New Hampshire on Jan. 9 and Jan. 12. The Retrievers had abysmal first halves, as they trailed by 22 and 29 points respectively in the contests. Freshman forward Chase Plummer picked up two quick fouls and played eight first-half seconds vs. UNH, but scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 13 minutes in the second half.


TERRIER UPDATE: Boston U. has won four straight games, all by double figures in the month of February.  The Terriers are a rock-solid 10-2 in their white uniforms (home games, various venues) in 2010-11.  Senior wing John Holland leads America East in scoring at 19.0 points per game and La Salle transfer Darryl Partin supports well at 14.3 points per contest. Partin scored 25 in Saturday's 61-50 victory vs. Hartford. This is the final regular season home game of the year for the Terriers,who are trying to complete a perfect America East season at home.


Who's Up Next:  UMBC will play its final regular season home game this Saturday, Feb. 19, when they host Hartford at 7:00 p.m.
