2009-10:  The leading freshman rebounder in America East (5.1 per game)… Also averaged 6.3 points per game and shot 51.2 percent from the floor while starting all 30 games for the Retrievers… The first freshman to lead UMBC in rebounding since Kennedy Okafor did it in 1997-98 (9.3 per game) and the first freshman to start all games in a season since Chris Pugh started all 28 in the 2003-04 campaign… Ranked sixth in America East games in field goal percentage (49.0%) and led the team at 51.0 percent through all 30 games… Hit 50 percent or better from the floor in 16 of 29 games where he attempted at least one shot… Recorded eight games in double figures in points, four with double figures in rebounds and a pair of double-doubles.  Nov. 15: Named UMBC’s America East Player of the Game in his debut, as he scored nine points, added 10 rebounds (tying for game-high honors) and three steals vs. Morgan State… Also earned a start in his first collegiate game, becoming the first freshman to start the opener since Uwem Eshietedoho started the first game of the 2005-06 campaign…  Nov. 28: Posted his first double-figure effort with 10 points at James Madison… Dec. 2: Tallied 11 points at Towson, hitting 5 of 10 shots from the floor… Dec. 12:  Scored eight of UMBC’s first 12 points vs. Rider, but ended up with 10 points in 17 minutes after committing three first half fouls… Jan. 14:  Named UMBC’s America East Player of the Game for the second time, when he scored a season-best 16 points (7/10 fg) vs. Hartford… Hit his first collegiate 3-pt. field goal (in his first attempt) vs. the Hawks… Jan. 24: Garnered 10 rebounds vs. Boston Univ. on Jan. 24… Jan. 30:  Posted his first career double-double with 10 points/10 rebounds in the win at Maine… March 6: Corralled a season-best 12 rebounds and recorded second double-double of the season with 14 points in America East quarterfinal contest vs. eventual champion Vermont… Hit five-of-five shots from the floor in the first 20 minutes and scored 12 of UMBC’s 26 first half points.  


Background: Earned All-State honors from The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (Class LL) and from The Hartford Courant after his final two prep campaigns… A McDonald’s All-America nominee and three-time All-Conference honoree…Part of a Windsor squad which won the Class LL state title in Connecticut and were ranked the No. 1 team (26-1) in the state in 2008-09…  Averaged 13.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.8 blocked shots per game and shot 55 percent from the field in the title season…Earned New Haven Register All-State honors… Ranked sixth in the class of 2009 in the state of Connecticut by New England Recruiting Report….Averaged 13.3 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game and blocked 3.6 shots per outing for the Warriors in the 2007-08 campaign…Earned honor roll status while at Windsor… Has a younger brother, Joseph, who is 13… Lists his favorite professional team as the Miami Heat and his favorite musical artists as Lil’ Wayne and Drake… Son of Jean and Clifford Satchell… Born Aug. 16, 1991.
