Retriever Men's Basketball: Brian Neller Signs NLOI to Attend UMBC

Neller (Red Bank, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound wing guard who amassed 1,119 points in his prep career. He earned Boys' Player of the Year honors from the basketball coaches in the Shore Conference and from the media in The Asbury Park Press.

The sharpshooter averaged 14.2 points per game for the Head Coach Geoff Billet's Colts (26-3), who captured the Shore Conference Tournament title and the NJSIAA Non-Public South A sectional championship. He also was a Second-Team All-Monmouth County honoree in his senior campaign.

Neller hit 178 three-point field goals in his three-year varsity career, including a season-best 69 in 2008-09.




All three of UMBC's fall signees had very successful 2008-09 campaigns. Nick Groce averaged 13.6 points per game and 3.6 assists per outing for St. Mary's. He scored 26 points and hit the game-winning layup in the Saints' 62-60 win in the MIAA 'B' Conference title game at UMBC. Groce earned Second-Team All-Metro honors from The Baltimore Sun and All-County accolades from The Capital Gazette. The comb0-guard scored nine points for the county squad in the county vs. city game of the Charm City Classic.

Adrian Satchell's Windsor squad won the Class LL state title in Connecticut and were ranked the No. 1 team (26-1) in the state. Satchell averaged 13.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.8 blocked shots per game and shot 55 percent from the field. He also earned New Haven Register All-State honors.

Kevin Jones Bishop O'Connell team had another successful campaign, posting a record of 23-9.
