Men's Basketball Iced by New Hampshire, 65-47

UMBC fell to 2-5 on the road, while UNH improved to 5-2 at Lundholm.

UMBC senior guard Jay Greene (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) scored 11 points and added seven assists, and his final helper of the night was the 600th of his career. The Retrievers' all-time leader in assists was his team's America East Player of the Game.

UNH senior guard Tyrece Gibbs led all scorers with 22 points and earned the honor for the Wildcats. UMBC senior forward Darryl Proctor (District Heights, Md.) led UMBC with 16 points and nine rebounds and extended his school record streak in double figures to 23 straight games.

The Retrievers hit their first five shots from the floor and nine of the first 14 as they built a 19-14 lead at the 10:00-minute mark of the first half. But UMBC would score only five points in the final 10 minutes of the half as UNH switched to a zone defense. The Wildcats closed the half on an 13-5 run, as they converted three offensive caroms into six points in that span and grabbed a 27-24 halftime edge.
UNH struck quickly in the second half as a Gibbs three-point play sparked a 11-2 run to open the half and give the hosts a 38-26 edge at the 17:32 mark. With the lead at 45-34 at the 12:17 mark, the Wildcats went on a 7-0 flurry to build the advantage to 52-34 with 10:33 to play and the Retrievers were unable to mount a rally down the stretch.

UMBC hit just eight of 23 shots in the second half and missed all seven three-point attempts after intermission. UNH hit 13 of 23 attempts (56.5%) from the floor in the final 20 minutes.

The Wildcats outrebounded UMBC, 39-23, and garnered 12 offensive caroms to the Retrievers' four.
Proctor misfired on seven of his first ten attempts from the floor and finished 7 of 17.
UMBC returns home on Saturday to face Hartford (7:05 p.m.) in a rematch of last year's America East championship game.
