RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC produced its most convicing victory of the year, setting a school record with 39 made free throws, in Thursday's 78-70 win at Hartford. Guards Chauncey Gilliam (career-high 26 points, 9 rebounds) and Chris De La Rosa (22 points, 5 assists) paced UMBC's effort. Gilliam has scored in double figures in nine straight and averages 15.3 points per game (5th) in America East games.
DANES UPDATE: Since their seven-point Jan. 16 win over UMBC, Albany has dropped eight straight games. On Tuesday, UA fell, 62-53, to visiting New Hampshire. Newcomers Fran Urli and Mike Black led Albany with 14 points each. Junior guard Tim Ambrose, who scored 21 points in the win over UMBC, leads the Great Danes at 13.3 points per outing.
UP NEXT: UMBC will play its final home game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 16 when they host league-leading Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m. It will be the final home game in the career of Matt Spadafora.
