UMBC Baseball Announces 2020 Schedule

2020 Schedule

Baltimore, Md.-- First-year head coach Liam Bowen announced the 2020 schedule on Thursday that features 27 home games. UMBC is coming off a 22-31 season in 2019, going 6-17 in America East play and missing the conference tournament for the first time since 2014.

The Retrievers will open the season against Charlotte and Stetson the first two weekends. UMBC will head to North Carolina for a three-game set with the 49ers for the first meetings between the two teams. After a midweek game at George Washington on February 25, UMBC will make the trip to DeLand, Fla. February 28-March 1 for a three-game series against the Hatters. The Retrievers and Hatters have met just one time before with the Retrievers taking a 6-5 decision in 1987.

The season-opening road swing continues with games at Towson (March 3) before hosting Fairleigh Dickinson (March 6) and Big Ten foe Penn State (March 7). UMBC will take the short trek to Annapolis on March 8 before opening a nine-game homestand against Coppin State (March 10), Maine (March 14-15), George Washington (March 18) and Delaware State (March 20-22). The month ends with the Retrievers at Eastern Shore on March 25 before hosting UAlbany on March 28-29.

April opens with a home game against La Salle before heading to Hartford for a three-game set with the Hawks on April 4-5. Eastern Shore then comes to Baltimore to close out the season series on April 8, followed by a showdown with defending America East Champion Stony Brook on the 11th-12th. UMBC will also host Towson (April 14) and Georgetown (April 21 & 26) while traveling to Maine (April 18-19), Georgetown (April 24-25) and George Mason (April 29).

The final month of the year will see the Retrievers play at Alumni Field just five times in the month of May against Delaware and Coppin State in midweek action and UMass Lowell on April 9-10 with the game on the 10th serving as Senior Day.

May opens with the Dawgs on the road at UAlbany with the final week closing at Delaware and Binghamton before the America East Tournament. The conference tournament will be held at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass. for the first time since 2017, the year UMBC won the America East title.
