Five Retrievers Earn America East All-Conference Honors

2019 America East All-Conference Teams

Vestal, N.Y.-- Five different Retrievers earned America East All-Conference honors with four earning spots on the all-conference second team, the conference announced on Tuesday night. UMBC finished the season at 22-31 after a season ending split with Fairfield on Saturday afternoon.

Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Good Counsel/Appalachian State), Colin Casey (Ipswich, Mass.), AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Terrence Pinkston (La Plata, Md./McDonough/Norfolk State) earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Schoch ended his 2019 campaign with the best ERA on the pitching staff at 3.59. He threw 52.2 innings with a team best 64 strikeouts and a 6-4 record. Casey spent his first year in Baltimore behind the plate, batting .259 with 44 hits, six double, three triples, six home runs and 36 RBI.

Wright and Pinkston were the leaders at the plate this year, with Pinkston batting .312. He drove in 32 runs, scoring 45 times with a team high 59 hits with 17 doubles and five home runs. Wright ended his career as one of the top hitters in program history, ranking in the top ten in several categories. This year he batted .280 with 52 hits, 22 doubles, six home runs and 43 RBI.

Blaze O'Saben (Warrenton, Va.) earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team after starting in every game during his first year with the Retrievers. He collected 50 hits with eight doubles, three triples and 20 RBI stealing 25 bases after splitting time in the infield and the outfield.

Thomas Babalis and Ben Anderson from Binghamton took Rookie and Pitcher of the year honors with Nick Grande of Stony Brook being named Player of the Year. UAlbany head coach Jon Mueller was unanimously named Coach of the Year after guiding the Great Danes to the two seed after being picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll.
