Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC baseball heads into the final month of the season just one spot out of the America East Tournament at 20-23, 6-12 AE. The Retrievers will host the Bearcats in their final home conference series of the year, with just a road trip to UMass Lowell left on the conference slate. The Retrievers are on a three-game losing streak, most recently falling 6-1 to Georgetown on Wednesday night.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC comes into the pivotal weekend series at 20-23, 6-12 AE on a three-game losing streak after most recently falling to Georgetown 6-1 on Wednesday night. The Hoyas jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Colin Casey (Ipswich, Mass.) drove in the lone run after reaching on an error.
-Terrence Pinkston (La Plata, Md./McDonough/Norfolk State) and Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) lead the Retrievers at the plate batting .333 and .313 respectively. Pinkston leads the team with 51 hits, 42 runs scored and 24 stolen bases. AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) is the team leader in RBI (39), doubles (17) and home runs (6) slugging .526.
-On the mound, Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Good Counsel/Appalachian State) leads the pitching staff with a 3.18 ERA in 14 appearances with two saves and a team high 51 strikeouts and five wins.
Scouting the Bearcats:
-The Bearcats sit at 18-19, 8-6 AE on the year and are coming off a pair of midweek losses to St. Bonaventure and Cornell this past Tuesday and Wednesday after sweeping Hartford last weekend. Binghamton is 7-6 at home and 11-10 on the road in 2019.
-Alex Baratta and Daniel Franchi lead the Bearcats at the plate. Baratta is batting .370 with 44 hits and a team best 27 RBI on the year. Franchi is hitting .340 with a team high 49 hits, 31 runs scored, nine doubles and seven stolen bases.
-Binghamton will throw Ben Anderson, Thomas Babalis, and Nick Gallagher this weekend. The trio is a combined 12-7 this year with Anderson leading the pitching staff in nearly every statistical category. He has thrown 63.0 innings with a 2.29 ERA and three complete games. He has struck out 82, giving up just 16 earned runs.
-The two teams have played 64 times before this weekend with the Bearcats holding a 46-18 lead in the all-time series. Last year, the Retrievers took four of the six meetings and have won five of the last nine meetings dating back to 2017.
Stealing Their Way Into the Record Books:
-UMBC is on pace to reset all records in the stolen bases categories this year, records that were last broken during the team's historic 2015 season. This year the Retrievers have stolen 88 bases which ranks second in program history, just behind the 2015 team who stole 113 bags. They have attempted 105 steals, just eight behind second place at 113 back in 2016.
-Terrence Pinkston has stolen 24 bases, just five behind first place in a single season set by Anthony Gatto and Kevin Lachance in 2015.
-UMBC will remain home, taking on Delaware and Coppin State next Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
