Baltimore, Md.-- The Retriever baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend to take on America East foe UMass Lowell on Saturday and Sunday. UMBC is coming off a 9-3 win against George Mason on Wednesday that saw the Retriever bats come alive. The Retrievers mustered 16 hits in the contest using a four run second inning to take control early.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC comes into the contest at 5-9, 0-3 AE after snapping a four game losing streak in a 9-3 win against George Mason on Wednesday afternoon. UMBC got big performances from Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.), Terrence Pinkston (La Plata, Md./McDonough/Norfolk State) and Colin Casey (Ipswich, Mass.). Both Torres and Pinkston had three hits with Casey driving in three runs.

-Torres, Pinkston and Ethan Wentzlaff (Damascus, Md./Damascus) are all hitting over .300 on the year. Torres leads the team with a .367 average with 18 hits, 13 runs scored, three triples, one home run and 12 RBI; all team bests. Pinkston has stolen eight bases with a .327 average with Wentzlaff hitting. 308.

-Nick Trabacchi (Smithtown, N.Y.) leads the rotation with a 4.67 ERA in four starts this year. He has thrown the most innings on the team with 17.1 innings of work with 11 strikeouts. Andy Rozylowicz (Annapolis, Md./DeMatha) and Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Good Counsel/Appalachian State) lead the bullpen with Rozylowicz sporting a 3.48 ERA with 10 strikeouts and Schoch leading the staff fanning 16 batters.

Scouting the River Hawks:

-The River Hawks come into the weekend at 2-16 on the year, having played all 18 games on the road. UMass Lowell has played two ranked teams in Georgia and North Carolina earlier this year, most recently dropping three games to Penn State last weekend.

-Andrew Roden is the lone River Hawk batting over .300 at .371 in 12 games and 35 at bats. Oscar Marchena has a team best 20 hits with nine runs scored. Cam Climo and Steve Passatempo provide the power with Climo leading the way with five doubles and Passatempo belting three home runs.

-Joshua Becker leads the pitching staff having thrown 19.2 innings with a team high 27 strikes while sporting a 3.66 ERA. He owns one of the teams two wins with Nick Rand getting the other in 28.0 innings of work.

All-Time Series:

-The River Hawks and Retrievers have met 18 times prior to this weekend with both teams winning nine contests. The Retrievers are 5-4 all-time in games played in Baltimore, including going 2-1 the last time the two played at Alumni Field in 2017.

-Last year, the River Hawks swept the Retrievers in Massachusetts in late April.

-The Retrievers will hit the road for the next five games, starting with a pair of midweek contests against George Washington and Coppin State next Tuesday and Wednesday.
