O’Saben Named America East Rookie of the Week

Boston, Mass.-- UMBC baseball freshman Blaze O'Saben (Warrington, Va.) has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. O'Saben helped the Retrievers to a 2-2 week including a series win against Delaware State this past weekend.

The Virginia native had a strong week of games, starting all four games in the outfield going 4-13 from the plate (.308 average) with a run scored and three RBI. He had one extra base hit coming on a triple. Overall this year, O'Saben is batting .294 in ten games with 10 hits and seven RBI. He has one triple and one home run coming against Miami.

This is the third weekly award for the Retrievers this year, with Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) and Ethan Wentzlaff (Damascus, Md./Damascus) winning player and rookie of the week two weeks ago.

UMBC will return to the diamond this weekend to face Stony Brook to open conference play. The Retrievers and Seawolves will play two on Saturday with the series finale on Sunday, both days starting at noon on Long Island.
