    Former UMBC baseball standout Terrence Pinkston has signed a professional contract with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League. Pinkston joins former Retriever Michael Austin on the team.
  • Former Retriever Kevin Lachance Signs with Arizona Diamondbacks to Minor League Deal

    Former UMBC infielder Kevin Lachance signed a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks and will report to the Missoula Osprey, the team’s Rookie Advanced affiliate. Lachance has spent this season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association before being picked up by the Diamondbacks. He is one of two Retrievers currently playing professional baseball, joining Michael Austin who is pitching for the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.
  • Bowen Announces Promotion of Ryan Terrill and Mitch Cooksey and Addition of Will Frazier to Coaching Staff

    UMBC baseball head coach Liam Bowen announced the promotion of Ryan Terrill and Mitch Cooksey today, as well as the addition of Will Frazier to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Both Terrill and Cooksey were on the staff the past season with Frazier coming on board for the 2020 season.

    Five different Retrievers earned America East All-Conference honors with four earning spots on the all-conference second team, the conference announced on Tuesday night. UMBC finished the season at 22-31 after a season ending split with Fairfield on Saturday afternoon.

    The Retrievers closed out the 2019 season with a win after dropping the first game of the double header on Saturday to the Stags. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) provided the heroics in game two with the go-ahead solo home run in the seventh that lifted UMBC to a 5-4 win after falling in game one 10-4.

    UMBC baseball concludes the 2019 season on Saturday against the Stags with senior day ceremonies taking place prior to the first game. UMBC is coming off a tough 4-3 loss to Georgetown on Tuesday night and sit at 21-30 on the year. The Retrievers led for most of the game, but the Hoyas rallied with a solo home run in the eighth pushing them over the top.

    UMBC baseball led throughout the contest, but four unanswered runs by the Hoyas sunk the Retrievers, 4-3 on Tuesday. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) recorded three hits with Jack Finn (Ellicott City, Md./Rider) driving in a run on two hits led the Retrievers.
