Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball returns to conference play this weekend with a three-game set against Stony Brook. The Retrievers are coming off a 7-2 victory against Coppin State on Wednesday, and are 11-19, 4-5 AE on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC comes into the weekend at 11-19, 4-5 AE after taking down Coppin State 7-2 on Wednesday. Senior Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va.) led the way with three RBI as the Retrievers snapped a four-game losing streak in the process.

-Three different Retrievers are hitting over .300 on the year, led by freshman Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) at .368. Andres Machado (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Bright are batting .304 and .303 respectively with Bright leading the team with 30 hits. AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) leads the team with 13 doubles and 18 RBI.

-Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) leads the staff with a 1.78 ERA with a 1-3 record in 16 apperances this season. He leads the team with 52 strikeouts. UMBC will throw freshman Max Goron (Laurel, Md./Reservoir), grad student Chase Bailey (Fairfax, Va.) and senior Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) this weekend who have a combined 4-9 record.

Scouting the Seawolves:

-Stony Brook comes into the weekend at 20-15, 6-6 AE, coming off a 6-0 win against Iona on Tuesday, which saw the Seawolves give up just one hit. Last time out in conference play, Stony Brook was swept by Albany.

-The Seawolves have a pair of players hitting over .300 with Nick Grande hitting .379 and Bobby Honeyman hitting .346. Grande leads the team with 47 hits and three home runs with Michael Wilson driving in 29 runs.

-The Seawolves will throw Brian Herrmann, Bret Clarke and Greg Marino this weekend who have a combined record of 8-8 with Herrmann throwing one complete game. Marion leads the staff with 39 strikeouts with Clarke and Herrmann at 33 and 29 strikeouts respectively.

All-Time Series:

-UMBC and Stony Brook have met 65 times prior to this weekend, with the Seawolves holding a 52-13 advantage in the series. However, the Retrievers defeated the Seawolves twice last year, including in the America East Tournament en route to the conference title.
