Baseball Summer Update: Chanin, Christian Named Ripken League All-Stars; Former Dawg Named ABCA/Diamond Regional Coach of the Year

Baltimore, Md.—Rising junior Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and rising sophomore Jacob Christian (Nokesville, Va./Patriot) were named Cal Ripken League All-Stars, the league announced. Former Retriever captain Dave Warrenfeltz earned ABCA/Diamond High School Div. II Regional Coach of the Year for Region 2.

Chanin will represent his summer team, the Gaithersburg Giants, on the north team while Christian will represent the Vienna River Dogs on the south team. Chanin is currently fourth in the league with four wins, giving up just ten runs with 25 strikeouts and a 2.05 ERA. Christian has appeared in 12 games for the River Dogs, throwing 22 innings with just four earned runs. He sports a 1.63 ERA with a team best 26 strikeouts.

Warrenfeltz earned Regional Coach of the Year honors for his work at Williamsport High School this past year. The Wildcats finished the season at 15-4, falling in the MPSSAA 2A State Championship to La Plata 4-1.
