Greensboro, N.C.—UMBC baseball senior Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville) continues to rack up the accolades following a stellar career and senior season with the Retrievers. Lachance was named to the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association)/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team, the ABCA announced on Wednesday.
Lachance earned second team honors as a short stop, being one of six America East players to earn an award. Binghamton placed Reed Gamache (Northeast, First Team) and Mike Bunal (Northeast, Second Team) on the list, while Hartford had David MacKinnon (Northeast, Second Team), Erik Ostberg (Northeast, Second Team) and Ben Bengston (Northeast, Second Team) on the list.
The Virginia native adds to a storied career in the black and gold, as he was also named to the America East All-Conference First Team in May and All-ECAC Second Team earlier this month. Lachance is the program leader in stolen bases in a single season, as well as a career. He finished his final campaign with a .373 average with team bests with 204 at bats, 76 hits, 50 runs scored and 28 stolen bases.
