Baltimore, Md.—The Retriever baseball squad, winners of their last seven, close out the regular season against the Hawks in a weekend series at Alumni Field. UMBC pounded out 16 hits and 14 runs while holding James Madison to just one hit in a 14-0 win on Tuesday to move to 26-20 on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC is currently riding a seven game win streak, after defeating James Madison 14-1 on Tuesday. The Retrievers belted three home runs, with two of them coming from Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) as UMBC held the Dukes to just one hit.
-Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville) leads the team offensively, hitting .394, having played in every game. He leads the team in hits (71), doubles (14), as well as swiping 28 bases in 32 tries. Junior Hunter Dolshun is hitting .342 with a team best ten home runs and 38 RBIs, while Anthony Gatto is batting .340 with 48 hits and 24 runs scored.
-On the mound, Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) leads the rotation with a 3.08 ERA in 12 starts this season. Wozniak has a 6-3 record in 64.1 innings pitched with a team best 51 strikeouts. Junior Cory Callahan (Sykesville, Md./Good Counsel) has made five starts since entering the rotation, throwing 47.1 innings of work with 25 strikeouts.
Scouting the Hawks:
-Hartford comes into the weekend at 35-14, 13-7 in conference play, having won their last five games dating back to May 10. Most recently the Hawks displaced Rhode Island on Wednesday, 7-1, giving up the one run on eight hits.
-David MacKinnon leads the offense with a .392 average with a team best 76 hits in 194 at bats. Ben Bengston has a team best 48 RBIs while batting .317 with eight home runs at the dish. A total of six Hawks are batting over .300 on the year for head coach Justin Blood.
-The Hawks pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.04, with oppenents batting .260 against them. Hartford will trot out Sam McKay (4-2, 3.93 ERA), Brian Murphy (7-2, 3.53 ERA) and John Mormile (4-0, 4.06 ERA) this weekend, with the trio having a combined 15 wins. Collin Ferguson is the leader out of the bullpen with seven saves and a 1.88 ERA in 18 appearances.
-All-time the two sides are tied 26-26 with Hartford leading America East contests 26-24. The Retrievers dropped four of the six regular season meetings last year, before taking a 10-2 victory in the America East Tournament to advance to the championship game.
-UMBC is still in the hunt for the number two overall seed in the upcoming America East Tournament, as Binghamton wrapped up the one seed and regular season title last weekend.
-The Retrievers will finish in second with a sweep and one loss by Stony Brook. UMBC will finish third with a sweep or two wins and two losses by Stony Brook or one win and a sweep by Albany of Stony Brook.
-If UMBC is swept, they can finish either in fourth or fifth, depending on the Stony Brook/Albany series.
-Senior Kevin Lachance and junior Andrew Casali are fast approaching the top of the record books in several categories. Lachance is just 14 hits away from the program record for a career. He is also two stolen bases away from breaking his own single season record he set last year.
-Casali is just one triple shy of tying the single season record.
-The Retrievers will honor six seniors prior to Saturday's series finale as a part of senior day. Kevin Lachance, Conrad Wozniak, Nick Naumann (Essex, Md./John Carroll/Chestnut Hill), Denis Mikush (Burke, Va./Robinson), Joe Vanderplas (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax/Tennessee) and Kevin Little (Weldon, Calif./Kern Valley/Taft) will be honored pregame.
-Anthony Gatto (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) and Jonny Dierks (Easton, Md./Independence/Fort Scott CC) will also be making their final appearances at Alumni Field, as they were honored last year but exhaust eligibility this year.
-The Retrievers will head to the America East Tournament, looking for their first conference championship next Wednesday, May 25 through Saturday, May 28.
