Baltimore, Md.—Mitchell Carroll (Oakton, Va./Oakton) provided the heroics on Friday, getting the walk-off double to right to lift UMBC to a 3-2 victory against Delaware State on Friday. The Retrievers fell behind multiple times throughout the night, but got the hits when they needed to win their sixth straight, and move to 25-20 on the year.

Carroll hit a double to right in the bottom of 11th, scoring Tim Kelly (Hampton, Va./York/Virginia Tech) to give the Retrievers the win. UMBC fell behind early, as Delaware State capitalized on an error in the second.

The Retrievers tie the game after Andrew Casali (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) grounded out to score Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) making it 1-1 after four.

Once again the Hornets scored on a double to retake the lead, before UMBC would found the answer in an AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) single scoring Casali, forcing extra innings.

The Retrievers got big performances from Casali and Connor Hax (Bowie, Md./Bishop McNamara) in relief, as UMBC used a total of nine pitchers in the contest. Carroll went 2-5 with the game winning RBI, as Kevin Lachace (Clifton, Va./Centreville) added a pair of hits in the win.

Casali picked up his second win of the year, going 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.

UMBC returns to action on Tuesday, May 17 with a 6 p.m. contest against James Madison at Alumni Field.
