Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball returns to America East play this weekend with a three game set in Albany. The Retrievers are coming off a pair of losses to Mount St. Mary's and George Washington to start the week. The losses dropped UMBC to 13-12, 4-1 AE on the year.

Scouting the Retrievers (13-12, 4-1 AE):
-UMBC comes into the weekend having dropped their last two contests to Mount St. Mary's and George Washington earlier this week. The Retrievers will begin their eight game road trip at Albany this weekend, sitting at 13-12, 4-1 AE on the year.
-Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville) leads the team offensively, hitting .430 through 25 games. He leads the team in hits (43), and home runs (4) as well as swiping 17 bases in 19 tries and is 17th in the nation in batting average. Classmate Anthony Gatto (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) is second on the team with a .354 average, while sophomore Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) is hitting .318 with a team best 25 RBI.
-On the mound, Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) leads the rotation with a 3.67 ERA in six starts this season. Wozniak has a 3-2 record in 34.1 innings pitched with a team best 28 strikeouts. Senior Jonny Dierks (Easton, Md./Independence/Fort Scott CC) and junior Cory Callahan (Sykesville, Md./Good Counsel) lead the bullpen with ten and 11 appearances each. Dierks is 3-1 with two saves, while Callahan has a 2.59 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Great Danes (8-17, 1-5 AE):
-The Great Danes come into the weekend having lost their last six games, including a 2-0 loss to Marist on Wednesday in their only contest this week. Overall, Albany is 8-17, 1-5 in America East play, and have played just one game in Albany this year.
-A triad of Danes are hitting over .300 for the year, led by Kevin Donati. Donati is batting .329 with 26 hits and a team best nine stolen bases. Matt Hinchy and Kyle Sacks are hitting .322 and .312 respectively with Hinchy having 28 hits and a team best 19 RBI. Sacks leads the squad with 29 hits, six doubles and 15 RBI.
-On the mound, the Albany pitching staff has a collective ERA of 5.25, with opposing batters hitting .267 against them. The Great Danes are led by Stephen Woods, who has thrown 34.2 innings this year. Woods has a team best 49 strikeouts with a 3-2 record and a 6.23 ERA.
-Albany leads the all-time series, 30-17 with all games being played in the America East. The Retrievers have gotten the better of the Great Danes in recent years, winning the last six meetings.
-Last year the Dawgs swept Albany in a three game set at Alumni Field in early May. The Great Danes have a stranglehold on game played in upstate New York, winning 16 of 20 games all-time.
-The Retrievers will continue their eight game road swing at local-rival Towson on Wednesday, April 13 starting at 3 p.m.
