Boston, Mass.—UMBC baseball senior Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) and freshman AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) earned America East Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday. Both Wozniak and Wright had big weeks for the Retrievers, who are on a five game winning streak and sit at 10-10, 4-1 AE on the year.
Wozniak threw a complete game shutout in his lone start against UMass Lowell on Saturday. The Texas native went seven innings, giving up just three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in the 1-0 win.
Wright had a breakout week in wins against Navy and UMass Lowell (3). The New Jersey native led the team with a .571 batting average, going 8-14 from the plate in four games. He smacked two doubles, while driving in two runs and scoring three times himself without a strikeout.
