UMBC Baseball Announces Pair of Fall Scrimmages

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball has announced a pair of fall scrimmages in October. The Retrievers will face local rivals Navy and Georgetown later this month.

The Retrievers and Midshipmen will square off on Friday, October 9 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Alumni Field. A couple weeks later, UMBC will travel to Georgetown to take on the Hoyas at Shirley Povich Field on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. Both matchups will consist of two, seven-inning games.

Last season the UMBC baseball team had its best season in recent years, finishing at 34-20, 14-10 AE and advancing to the America East Championship game. Sophomore Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and senior Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) earned America East Rookie and Pitcher of the Year honors and Head Coach Bob Mumma was unanimously named Coach of the Year.
