Chanin Adds to Postseason Honors; Named All-American by Jewish Sports Review

Los Angeles, Calif.—UMBC freshman pitcher Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) was named to the 2015 College Baseball All-America Team by Jewish Sports Review, the media outlet announced in their July/August Issue.

The award for Chanin adds to a long list he has already garnered for the 2015 season. Earlier in May, Chanin was named to the America East All-Conference First Team, All-Rookie Team, and Rookie of the Year for his exploits during his freshman season. In June, he was named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Chanin and the Retrievers finished the year at 34-20, 14-10 AE on the year, the second most wins in a season in program history. The Retrievers earned their second America East Tournament bid in program history, making it all the way to the championship game. Chanin finished his first season in Baltimore with a 1.96 ERA, going 5-2 in 64.1 innings pitched.

He is the second Retriever to be named to the list, joining Jon Cohn back in 2013.
