Wozniak Earns America East Co-Pitcher of the Week Honors

Boston, Mass.—UMBC junior Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) was named America East Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Wozniak helped the Retrievers clinch the two seed in the America East Playoffs with their win on Friday, their first appearance since 2008.

Conrad pitched a complete game, five hitter in a 4-0 UMBC win in game two of the series with Hartford this past weekend. Wozniak struck out four batters and did not surrender a walk as the Retrievers clinched the two seed in the upcoming playoffs with the win.

This year, Conrad has been stellar on the hill. He has a 3-1 record in 11 starts, throwing 66.0 innings overall. He has struck out 52 batters, tied for the most on the team. His 1.50 ERA has been at the top of the America East, and in the top 20 in the nation all season.

No. 2 UMBC will face off with No. 3 Maine on Thursday, May 21 in the first game of the 2015 America East Playoffs at 5:00 p.m. The tournament will be a four team, double elimination style tournament with the winner gaining an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
