Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball will hit the road for a three game America East set with the River Hawks this weekend. The Retrievers are coming off a 20-5 win against Mount St. Mary's this past Wednesday, and sit at 15-13, 4-5 AE on the season.

Scouting the Retrievers (15-13, 4-5 AE):
UMBC sits at 15-13, 4-5 AE on the year, and come in off a win against Mount St. Mary's this past Wednesday. The Retrievers remained a perfect 1-0 at home, after trailing 5-0 to the Mount. UMBC rattled off 20 straight runs to cruise to victory.
Andrew Casali leads the charge offensively, hitting a staunch .321 (34-106) on the year. He has played and started in every game for the Retrievers this season, smacking six doubles and a team-high 20 RBI. Nick Naumann (Essex, Md./John Carroll/Chestnut Hill) has been a force in his own right, hitting .320 in 27 games this year. Naumann is second on the team with 32 hits, 17 RBI and leads the squad with eight doubles.
Freshman Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and junior Conrad Wozniak (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods/Frank Phillip) are leading the pitching staff, with a 2.60 and 1.49 ERA each. Chanin is sitting at 3-1 on the year in five starts. He has 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings of work. Wozniak has been equally impressive with a 1.49 ERA sitting down 32 batters and giving up just six earned runs all year.
Scouting the River Hawks (7-18, 3-5 AE):
UMass Lowell is 7-18 on the year, having lost their double header with Dartmouth earlier this week. Two of their three America East wins came off a series win against Maine two weeks ago. The only other conference win came against Stony Brook, where they scored six runs to open the game in a 6-3 win.
Ian Storm and Danny Mendick lead the offense, hitting .360 and .351 respectively. Storm has 31 hits in 86 at bats, while Mendick has a team-high 33 hits in 94 AB's. Mendick is also the team leader with 18 RBI.
The River Hawks as a team have an ERA of 6.05. The three starters in the series (Andrew Ryan, Kevin Veilleux, and Geoff DeGroot) have ERA's of 2.81, 5.04, and 4.60 respectively. DeGroot and Ryan are one-two on the staff in strikeouts with 14 and 12 each.
The Retrievers and River Hawks have met just three times before, with UMass Lowell taking all three match-ups in their first year in the America East. The River Hawks swept the Retrievers in Baltimore by scores of 5-1, 15-1, 12-8.
