Boston, Mass.—Sophomore Andrew Casali (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and freshman Brady Zinda (Woodbridge, Va./Hylton) earned America East Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, as announce by the conference on Monday.
Casali earned the honor after posting a .381 batting average this past week. Casali brought home five runners while swiping two bases. He is hitting .327 on the year with nine RBI's, with one home run, one triple and four doubles.
Zinda has had a strong start to his first season in Baltimore. He hit .417 in four games last week, including a 3-5 performance against Towson. Zinda was 5-12 from the dish, scoring five runs and drawing one walk.
The Retrievers are back in action with five games this week. UMBC travels to Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, March 24 with first pitch at 3:30 p.m. Then the Retrievers will head home for a four game home stand, starting with Navy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. UMBC will host Binghamton for a three game America East series on Saturday March 28 (4:30 p.m.) and Sunday March 29 at noon for a double-header.
