Coach Mumma Signs Five to National Letters of Intent

Baltimore—Head Coach Bob Mumma has signed five players to National Letters of Intent for the 2016 season.

"This is the biggest early signing class I've had since I have been here," Mumma said about the 2016 signees. "This is a great sign that our program is going in the right direction."

Raven Beeman, OF, Somerset, Pa./Somerset

Raven is a two sport athlete from Western Pennsylvania, who also excels on the football field. A great athlete, the staff is excited to have him roaming the outfield next year.

"Raven is fast and strong, and can play anywhere in the outfield," Coach Liam Bowen stated. "He runs well and is excited to play at UMBC."

Noah Beasley, IF, Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield

Noah is a versatile player who can play a variety of positions in the infield.

"He plays very hard and will come in and compete for a starting spot early. He is a tough kid with a high character, which is something we look for in a lot of guys." Coach Bowen said of Beasley.

Jacob Christian, RHP, Gainesville, Va./Patriot

Jacob is a 6-3 right handed pitcher with good athleticism.

"We have seen him pitch quite a bit," Bowen said. "We are impressed with his upside, and is another kid with good character."

Colton Hower, RHP, Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area

Coach Bowen spoke highly of his new incoming pitcher from the Pittsburgh area, saying "Colton has an athletic, quick arm. He has three legitimate pitches that he can throw for strikes."

AJ Wright, IF, Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West

AJ is the most polished of the recruits according to the coaching staff, and feel he will have an immediate impact early.

"He can play anywhere on the infield, and can swing the bat very well," Coach Bowen stated. "He was a very decorated as a high school player, and we feel he will continue that success at the next level."

Coach Mumma said this is the most important class he has brought in to date. "With a lot of guys leaving this year, we knew we had to bring in certain players to fill those positions, and we have done that with these five guys."

Coach Bowen added, "These are five high caliber recruits that we happy we were able to get. They are high profile guys with great character."
