MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – UMBC senior outfielder Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Second Team, the organizations announced late Wednesday evening.   Klukowicz is the first Retriever to earn a spot on the All-East Region Team since designated hitter Will Delwater was selected to the First Team in 2008.

This past season, Klukowicz was an America East All-Conference Second-Team selection after producing his best season in a Retriever uniform, leading the squad in multiple offensive categories.  His .359 batting average (55-for-131) led all Retrievers and currently ranks fourth in the America East.  Batting from the left side, he also stroked a conference-best nine homeruns during the regular season.  He also led UMBC in hits (55), extra-base hits (23) and RBIs (47) and tied for the team lead in doubles with 12 two-baggers.

For his career, Klukowicz batted .301 (132-for-438) with 29 doubles, 14 homeruns and 90 RBIs.  He also scored 68 runs and drew 48 walks during his four years in Baltimore.  Used primarily as a right fielder and designated hitter during his career, Klukowicz also made seven appearances as a pitcher, starting three games, during his freshman year in 2009.

The two all-region teams were chosen by a committee of 21 coaches in the region and all of the First Team selections are now eligible for the All-America team which will be selected on Fri. June 18th during the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
