Three Retrievers Earn America East Baseball All-Conference Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Three members of the UMBC baseball team were named to the America East All-Conference squads, the conference announced Tuesday. Junior Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) earned All-Conference Second Team honors, while freshmen D.J. Ream (Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) and Rob McCabe (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph’s) were named to the All-Rookie team.


Himmelstein led the Retrievers with 53 hits, two home runs and 31 RBI this season, along with the second-best batting average, .315. His 12 doubles and 31 RBI were career-best numbers and is now hitting .312 over his first three years in Baltimore.


Ream led UMBC with a .331 batting average and .444 slugging percentage to go along with 11 doubles and 19 RBI. He hit .533 in a four-game series against Hartford last weekend with team-high eight hits, five doubles and eight runs driven in.


McCabe hit .270 in his first campaign in Baltimore with 38 hits and 23 runs scored. The team’s lead-off hitter the second half of the season, he finished in a tie for the team with lead with 19 walks and was second on the team with six stolen bases.
