UMBC Baseball Senior Will Delawter Featured on Ping!Baseball Weekly Spotlight

BALTIMORE--UMBC baseball senior designated hitter/pitcher Will Delawter has been named the Spotlight player of the week at PingBaseball.com and becomes the fifth player in the country to earn the honor in 2008.

Delawter led the Retrievers in batting average (.365), slugging percentage (.553), hits (62), RBI (38), was second in on-base percentage (.418), doubles (14), home runs (6), and total bases (94), during the 2007 season.

Delawter was named America East First-Team All-Conference for his efforts during 2007 and will lead the Retrievers into 2008 next weekend as they host Army in a three-game series from Feb. 29-April 2, with the first matchup scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Delaware's Alex Buchholz, brother of former Retriever Matt Buchholz was also named a Ping! Baseball Spotlight player, for the week of Feb. 11.
