BALTIMORE- Drexel midfielder Carly Snyder scored in the third minute of double overtime to give the Dragons (1-1-0) a 2-1 victory over the UMBC women's soccer team (0-3-0) Thursday night in Philadelphia, Pa.

Snyder beat UMBC junior goalkeeper Catie Bukowski to the upper-left corner of the net after finding space in the middle of the penalty area off a pass from Dragon midfielder Aleka Yiantsos.

UMBC senior forward Jessica Young opened the scoring in the 34th minute on a pass from junior defender Arielle Tagger before Yiantsos tied the game from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

With the goal, Young moved into sole possession of fifth place all-time in career goals for the Retrievers with 24. In addition, she is tied for sixth place all-time in career points with 55.

UMBC's best chance in overtime was in the first overtime when sophomore forward Michelle Worrest hit the crossbar and freshman forward Meagan Rivera's rebound attempt went wide.

Both Bukowski and Dragon goalkeeper Kaitlin Bond both recorded six saves. The Retrievers outshot the Dragons 16-13, while Drexel had 12 corners to UMBC's 2.

UMBC's next game is at Bucknell on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m.
