Ryan Fries joined the UMBC Sports Medicine staff in August 2012. He serves as the primary athletic trainer for the Retrievers' men’s lacrosse team, men’s and women’s cross country teams and assists with swimming and diving.
Before coming to UMBC, Fries served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Drexel University in Philadelphia working with the Dragons’ women’s soccer and lacrosse teams. Fries received his master’s of science in sport management from Drexel in June 2012. Ryan began his career working for NovaCare Rehabilitation as the athletic trainer at Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pa.
The Philadelphia native earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from Alvernia University, where he was also 4-year varsity letter winner on the Crusaders’ men’s lacrosse team. He currently resides in Baltimore, with his dog “Hoagie.”
