Abbie Day joined the UMBC athletics staff in July 2015. She will serve as the academic advisor for the men’s basketball, women’s soccer and softball programs. She will also assist in the Retrievers’ community outreach initiatives, as well as serve as the advisor for the UMBC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC ).
Prior to joining the Retrievers’ staff, Day spent five years as the coordinator of student-athlete support services at Loyola University (Md.), working with the men’s soccer, men’s golf, men’s and women’s crew, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s track and field student-athletes.
Day attended Florida State University and received a Master of Science degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education in 2009 and her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2007. Day was a four-year member of the Seminoles’ cross country and track and field teams (2002-05). Following her graduation from FSU, Day served a one-year stint as the Assistant Academic Coordinator in the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes at North Carolina State University.
