Sophomore Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) was named UMBC Athlete of the Week presented by Subway for the week ending November 4. O'Loughlin helped the Retrievers to a big win against Vermont in the America East Tournament Quarterfinals last Saturday. O'Loughlin came in during the penalty kick round made a couple big saves and even scored during the shootout to advance UMBC to the semifinals against No. 1 Stony Brook on Wednesday.
The England native stopped the last three Catamount shots, scoring in the fifth round to lift UMBC to victory. O'Loughlin has played in eight matches this year, making 34 saves (.756 save pct) surrendering just 11 goals (1.42 GAA) in 2018.
