Q: How old do campers have to be to attend camp?
A: Camper age is 6-13 by June, 2017.
Q: What are the dates of the camp?
A: Camp begins on June 12, 2017 for nine individual, one week sessions. Campers may sign up for one week or more.
Camp sessions are as follows:
Week 1: June 12 - 16
Week 2: June 19 - 23
Week 3: June 26 - 30
Week 4: July 3 - 7* (Closed Tuesday July 4)
Week 5: July 10 - 14
Week 6: July 17-21
Week 7: July 24-28
Week 8: July 31 - August 4
Week 9: August 7 - 11
Q: What time does camp start and end?
A: Regular day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:45 p.m.
Extended day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. and is an additional charge.
Q: Do you offer swimming?
A: We offer a comprehensive swim program, which is comprised of morning swim instruction and a recreational swim period in the afternoon each day.
Q: What type of facilities do you have?
A: The camp is housed in the Retriever Activities Center (RAC), which features an indoor and outdoor pool, two air conditioned gyms, as well as several on-campus locations all air conditioned and outdoor play areas.
Q: Do you offer Transportation?
A: We do not provide transportation.
Q: Do you provide lunch?
A: We do not provide lunch. It is recommended that campers bring their lunch in a soft cooler bag or brown paper bag. We have refrigerators to keep food cold. Limited access to microwaves is available to heat up food during lunch period. Additionally, we offer a small snack and beverage each day for all campers.
Q: What if my child has food allergies?
A: At lunch, there is a designated food allergy table. Children with food allergies may still sit with their peers at the table after the staff has checked to ensure that the children's lunches do not contain allergens that will affect your child.
Q: What if my child has to take medication while at camp?
A: UMBC Summer Day Camp has full-time medical staff on campus, and camp staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid. A signed Drug Authorization Form MUST be submitted BEFORE your child attends their first day of camp. Please speak with Camp Administration on the first day of camp to coordinate the administration of your child's medication.
Q: What will my child need for camp?
A: Please send your camper with a bagged lunch, refillable water bottle, sunscreen and swim gear (2 bathing suits, towel; goggles are optional). Please mark your child's name on all personal belongings. Also, please remember that open-toed shoes or sandals are not permitted. We recommend sneakers for safety reasons.
Q: What if my child doesn't know anyone?
A: Many children come to camp without knowing anyone else. Our staff is trained to make all campers feel welcome and introduce them to other campers. Activities and games are built into the schedule at the beginning of each week to facilitate camper interactions. Our goal is for each camper to make new friends.
Q: Will I have an opportunity to meet the Camp staff?
A: Yes! Come to one our Open House event on May 31 @ 7pm to meet the Camp Director, staff, and take a tour of the camp facilities. For those parents who are unable to attend, please contact our office @ 410-455-2638 or email@example.com
Q: How much does camp cost?
A: The cost of camp is $230.00 per week for regular day.
Extended day is $270.00 per week.
The fourth week, July 3 – July 7 is $185 for regular day and $215.00 for extended day.
*No camp on Tuesday July 4*
Q: Do you offer any registration discounts?
A: We are offering the following weekly discounts.
Early Full payment discount of $20.00/week per camper if paid in full by April 1st.
$15.00 Sibling, $15.00 UMBC employee or $15.00 military discount. ($15 off each session, per camper.) Only one discount may be applied per camper.
Q: How can I add a week of camp after I have already registered my camper?
A: Just click on Register Now link at the top of the page.
Q: Where do I drop off/pick up my child?
A: Please review our Parent section of this website for detailed drop off and pick up information.
Q: What should I do if I need to pick up my child early from camp?
A: If you need to pick up your child early (i.e., before 4:30 PM), please complete the early pick up form during drop off. You may pick up your child in RAC 321.
Q: What should I do if I drop my child off late to camp?
A: If you arrive at Camp after 9:00am, check-in your child at our Summer Camp Office in RAC 321. We will take your child to his/her group.
