CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS EASILY PREVAIL IN METRO CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hunt Valley, MD--UMBC's men's and women's cross country teams easily ran past the competition at the annual Baltimore Metro Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park.
The men's "B" squad scored a perfect 15 points, besting Johns Hopkins (56), Towson (64), Coppin State (126) and Morgan (127). UMBC sophomore John Commins won the 8k race in a time of 28:34.
The women posted 21 points, followed by Towson (38), Hopkins (85), Morgan State, Goucher, and Coppin. UMBC sophomore Stefanie Thomas won the 5K in a time of 19:14, while Cara Wettaufer placed second at 19:20.
