UMBC Cross Country to Compete in Towson Invitational Friday

Sophomore Paul Zwama has led the Retriever men in each of the first two races this year.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Cockeysville, Md. Friday to race in the Towson Invitational at 4 p.m..

 

Oregon Ridge Park, the site of the invitational, will also be the course of the America East Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1.

 

Sophomore Paul Zwama (Groningen, Netherlands/CSG Dingstede) led the Retriever men across the line in the Navy Invitational on Sept. 13 as they finished eighth. Earlier in the season, UMBC won the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals, finishing with a record of 5-0.

 

The men have been ranked 15th in the first week of Mid-Atlantic Region poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

 

On the women’s side, junior Suzanne Gabriel (Falls Church, Va./McLean) led UMBC across the line at the Salty Dog Invitational in Annapolis, Md. on Sept. 13. The women placed 14th.
