UMBC

LOCH HAVEN, N.Y.—The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country concluded the 2006 season with 21^st and 23^rd place finishes, respectively, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional held in Loch Haven, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.  The men’s race featured 28 programs and 178 overall competitors while the women’s race featured 32 programs and 195 total competitors.

Sophomore Anthony Kelhower led the men’s team in the 10K race, finishing 89^th overall in 32:56.7.  Senior Blake Davis was the next Retriever to cross the line in 99^th place with a time of 33:09.9.  Senior Shawn Shokry placed 108^th in 33:23.9 followed by senior J.J. Wetzel in 129^th in 33:57.9 and freshman Andrew Madison in 138^th in 34:19.8. 

Senior Kathleen Galan concluded her UMBC career with a 6K time of 22:48.6 for 94^th overall.  Junior Tawny Barin placed 114^th as the next Retriever in 23:13.6.  Other UMBC scorers included freshman Suzanne Gabriel in 123^rd in 23:22.9, senior Morgan Little in 145^th in 24:01.1 and freshman Mairin Leahy in 149^th in 24:05.2.
