UMBC

Kathleen Galan led the women to a second place finish at William and Mary.

The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the William and Mary Invitational on Saturday as the UMBC men’s team placed third behind William & Mary and Virginia while the women’s team took second place behind the host school. 

Kathleen Galan led the women’s team across the line with a 10^th place finish in the women’s 6K run with a time of 24:02.5.  A number of individual runners filled the distance between Galan and 26^th place finisher Suzanne Gabriel, who took 26^th overall with a time of 24:49.4.  Morgan Little placed 29^th in 25:03.8, Mairin Leahy took 31^st in 25:26.6 and Tawny Barin placed 38^th in 25:46.8 to finish the scoring for UMBC. 

Anthony Kelhower led the men’s team in the 8K run with an 11^th place finish in 25:35 as UMBC with 44 team points finished 10 points behind Virginia for second place.  Shawn Shokry took 18^th in 26:01 followed by J.J. Wetzel in 23^rd with a mark of 26:12.  Blake Davis and Matt Colwhey finished the scoring by crossing the line in 27^th place and 33^rd place, respectively.  Blake ran an 8K of 26:22 and Cowhey ran a time of 26:50. 

UMBC returns to action at the America East Conference Championships in Maine on October 28^th.
