UMBC Cross Country Competes At William and Mary Invitational

The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the William and Mary Invitational on Saturday as the UMBC men’s team placed third behind William & Mary and Virginia while the women’s team took second place behind the host school.
Kathleen Galan led the women’s team across the line with a 10th place finish in the women’s 6K run with a time of 24:02.5. A number of individual runners filled the distance between Galan and 26th place finisher Suzanne Gabriel, who took 26th overall with a time of 24:49.4. Morgan Little placed 29th in 25:03.8, Mairin Leahy took 31st in 25:26.6 and Tawny Barin placed 38th in 25:46.8 to finish the scoring for UMBC.
Anthony Kelhower led the men’s team in the 8K run with an 11th place finish in 25:35 as UMBC with 44 team points finished 10 points behind Virginia for second place. Shawn Shokry took 18th in 26:01 followed by J.J. Wetzel in 23rd with a mark of 26:12. Blake Davis and Matt Colwhey finished the scoring by crossing the line in 27th place and 33rd place, respectively. Blake ran an 8K of 26:22 and Cowhey ran a time of 26:50.
