UMBC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Competes At 33rd Running Of The Lehigh Paul Short Run

The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the 33rd running of the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon. The UMBC men’s team took 31st out of 42 men’s programs while the women’s team placed 28th out of 35 women’s programs in their respective collegiate invitational.
The UMBC men ran an 8K course with Shawn Shokry placing the highest for UMBC with a time of 26:01 and 121st overall. J.J. Wetzel took 131st overall in 26:08 followed by Blake Davis in 26:30 (163rd), Anthony Kelhower in 26:42 (185th) and Andrew Madisin in 26:56 (203rd). UMBC recorded a team score of 803 with 276 total competitors in the race.
The women competed in a 6K comprised of 237 total competitors. Senior captain Kathleen Galan ran a time of 23:09 for 116th overall. Freshman Susan Gabriel placed 129th in 23:29. Emily Saltsman in 177th and a time of 24:01, Morgan Little in 184th with a time of 24:10 and Tawny Barin in 197th with a time of 24:32 rounded out the UMBC scoring.
