UMBC MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY COMPLETES SEASON AT NCAA MID-ATLANTIC REGIONALS

    Baltimore, Md. – The UMBC men’s and women’s team concluded the 2005 season at the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet hosted by Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.  The men’s team, who two weeks ago won the America East Conference Championships, finished 21st overall while the UMBC women’s team took 22nd in the meet.  The men’s race featured 28 programs and 195 overall competitors while the women’s race featured 26 programs and 182 total competitors.

     

    J.J. Wetzel led the men’s team in the 10K race, finishing 98th overall in 32:45.7.  Izudin Mehmedovic was the next Retriever to cross the line in 113th place with a time of 33:07.0.  Senior Ryan Cartwright placed 118th in 33:12.0 followed by junior Blake Davis in 121st in 33:15.9 and Shawn Shokry in 123rd in 33:19.2. 

     

    Senior Stefanie Thomas concluded her UMBC career with a 6K time of 22:47.7 for 90th overall.  Kathleen Galan placed 92nd as the next Retriever in 22:50.8.  Other UMBC scorers included Tawny Barin in 130th in 23:41.3, Morgan Little in 149th in 24:24.6 and Emily Saltsman in 152nd in 24:47.2.
