UMBC

Baltimore, Md. – The UMBC men’s and women’s team concluded the 2005 season at the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet hosted by Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.  The men’s team, who two weeks ago won the America East Conference Championships, finished 21^st overall while the UMBC women’s team took 22^nd in the meet.  The men’s race featured 28 programs and 195 overall competitors while the women’s race featured 26 programs and 182 total competitors.

J.J. Wetzel led the men’s team in the 10K race, finishing 98^th overall in 32:45.7.  Izudin Mehmedovic was the next Retriever to cross the line in 113^th place with a time of 33:07.0.  Senior Ryan Cartwright placed 118^th in 33:12.0 followed by junior Blake Davis in 121^st in 33:15.9 and Shawn Shokry in 123^rd in 33:19.2. 

Senior Stefanie Thomas concluded her UMBC career with a 6K time of 22:47.7 for 90^th overall.  Kathleen Galan placed 92^nd as the next Retriever in 22:50.8.  Other UMBC scorers included Tawny Barin in 130^th in 23:41.3, Morgan Little in 149^th in 24:24.6 and Emily Saltsman in 152^nd in 24:47.2.
