UMBC TAKES TO THE COURSE AT LEHIGH U. PAUL SHORT RUN

Bethlehem, Pa. – UMBC’s men and women’s cross country teams competed at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run on Saturday morning. The UMBC men’s team, who completed an 8k run, finished the meet with a 16th place showing while the women, who raced a 6k course, captured 15th as a squad.
Adam Driscoll led the men’s squad for the fourth week in a row, taking 37th place overall with a time of 25:18.63. Izudin Mehmedovi (25:25.33) captured 45th place as the Retrievers’ second best finisher. Also scoring in the event was Jesse Stump (26:05.75) with a 101 place finish, Greg Saylor (26:21.02) crossing the line with a 124 place finish and in 135th Shawn Shokry (26:28.90).
On the women’s side, Stefanie Thomas completed the trek in 22:05.88 to finish in 36th place overall. Thomas was followed by teammates Cara Wettlaufer (22:41.16) in 77th, Yasmin Fields (22:51.38) in 87th, Britta Nelson (23:06.03) in 103rd and Kathleen Galan (23:16.33) in 114th.
The Retrievers return to action at the Goucher College Invitational on Saturday, October 11.
